“The Nightmare Year” method: a new, counter-intuitive way of scripting your ideal year
I would make the bold assumption that many of us are familiar with creating vision boards and scripting to manifest your dream year.
In this blog post, I will be sharing another method for you to light the fire within yourself to pursue your goals, and to feel less discouraged and motivated.
How does this ‘The Nightmare Year’ method work?
Well, instead of scripting or writing your ideal 2026 for example, you will be scripting how you do not want 2026 to turn out.
This flies in the face of many self-help advice but hear me out for a minute 😅
There are 2 steps to this method.
Step 1: Do a mental scan of your 2025
Pinpoint
1) thought patterns
2) habits
3) anything else you do not want to repeat in 2026.
Step 2: Start scripting your nightmare 2026
Reach for a pen and paper and start writing how you do not want 2026 to turn out.
I'll share my own personal example below.
My Step #1 :
My immune system was not the strongest in 2025 and I saw my doctor more times than I care for. I also spent too much time resting on my sofa and having low energy on many days. It was not fun.
I made many decisions based on fear. For example, I did not want to pay $X to get a new business tool / software ‘in case it does not work out or becomes a waste of money'.
I also made the least income in my 5 years of business in 2025. Just like other businesses, A.I. has knocked my sales down by a lot. I do not want to have the same income in 2026.
I felt disempowered and discouraged in my business due to the rapid development of AI and too much other noise on the Internet. I simply do not want to feel that way any more.
My Step #2 : I will now script how my ‘nightmare 2026’ will look like
"In 2026, I do not want to spend too many days feeling low on energy or recovering from one small ailment to another. Spending days resting on my sofa to rest myself physically and mentally is not appealing to me.
In 2026, I do not want to earn the same low amount of money I did in 2025. That felt like a drag and I do not want to repeat that.
In 2026, I do not want my fear to make decisions for me. Being too careful made me feel stagnant, restless and downright bored - both in life and in business.
In 2026, I am done feeling disempowered - or or any form of helpless feelings - when running my business. My income may fall with competition, AI and more, but feeling disempowered makes me feel depressed-like feelings which affect other aspects of my life.”
So how did I feel after this brief exercise?
I felt a new sense of determination after I’ve finished scripting my 2026 nightmare. It lit a fire within me to keep trying new things to keep my business motivation going.
I have also taken practical proactive steps to strengthen my immunity and well-being.
