Coaches, do THIS if you have anxious feelings about your business
As a coach / entrepreneur, you can’t run away from anxious feelings. Especially when you are overwhelmed with a million ‘urgent’ things on your list.
Or you see your sales figures start dropping this month. Or you just don’t have the mojo to create content for your blog or IG and start panicking about being inactive online.
Firstly, I want to affirm you that it’s alright to take a few days off and be ‘unproductive’ for a while. Accept that your body and mind need to rest today - or for a few days - and you can pick up after that.
I read recently that a mindset coach pooh-poohed journaling for anxiety. In a nutshell, the coach claims that anxious feelings need coaching, not journaling.
I have a different perspective. I have periods of anxious feelings at times, and journaling has helped me IMMENSELY. If your anxiety is more severe, then I will agree that you need a therapist to help you with that!
I will share with you my go-to prompts when I feel anxious feelings about my business creeping in.
My go-to prompts when feeling anxious about my business + example answers
1. What aspect of my business am I anxious about?
“I’m anxious that my business is having a drop in sales right now. I used to rake in $10,000 per month, but I foresee myself hovering at $5000 this month. I’m panicking because maybe my goal of running a six-figure business will remain a dream.”
2. What unhelpful beliefs do I hold? When did I start having these unhelpful beliefs? Who told me that?
“My mother used to tell me that good things don’t last. She has been telling me that since I was 5 or 6, I believe. This thought has been stuck at the back of my mind for decades.”
3. Is there ONE aspect about your business which you can be grateful about?
“I will be grateful for the $5000 I’ll be making this month. I can also be grateful that this is a sign for me to explore new income streams related to my business.”
4. If the worst case scenario happens, what is the Universe / God trying to tell me?
“If my business makes 0 income and I’ve lost interest completely - which is my worst case scenario - it’s a sign for me to explore new ways of making an income. There may be other more enjoyable and meaningful ways for me to make money.”
Your answers can be longer than the examples above.
Another favourite activity of mine is to record a video of myself answering those questions. When you watch these videos again, you will notice yourself saying things you don’t remember saying! These may be your subconscious thoughts speaking out ;)
That’s all I have for you today. I wrote this blog post because it’s an ‘inspired action’ on my part today :)
I believe some of you need this motivation at this time.
Have a good week and may you be blessed.
