(Free Coaching Tool) How to Teach Clients to Overcome Fear and Self Doubt with an Exploring Strengths Worksheet

I’m sharing a FREE ‘exploring strengths worksheet’ to help your clients overcome fear and self doubt. This personal strengths assessment worksheet will boost feelings of self worth. Also, this identifying strengths worksheet will remind them of their skills and talents. It’s free for you to download and use with your clients!

I’ll share some strategies to help you teach your coaching clients to overcome fear and self-doubt so they feel brave enough to start pursuing their goals and dreams.

Strategy #1 to Overcome Fear and Self Doubt: Being Aware of Their Unique, Quirky Strengths

Every quirk or little talent that your coaching client has, can be a strength.

It requires some re-framing on their part. For example, if she thinks that being able to comfort other people is a weak or ‘useless’ talent to have, we can show examples of people out there who have made a living out of comforting others.

A talent can be expressed in many indirect ways too. In writing, in video form, in creative form (painting, creating worksheets), face-to-face and more.

An example: I know a lady who is talented in making people feel good. Instead of becoming a counselor or coach, she makes people feel good by offering good and comforting facials.

Here, she uses her talent - she can intuitively predict what her clients need - and offer value added services to cater to what they want.

Every little talent or strength your client has, can be expanded to create a BIG difference. It takes some out-of-the-box thinking and creativity.

To help your clients be aware of their strengths, you can download the My Skills + Strengths Bingo exploring strengths worksheet below.

This strength exploration worksheet lists 25 common positive traits which will help them discover their strengths in a fun way.

This worksheet is free + unbranded and you can use it with your clients.

This My Skills + Strengths Bingo exploring strengths worksheet is part of my editable 11 Self Esteem Tools bundle.

You can purchase the brandable self esteem bundle, edit in Canva and sell it to your clients or use it during coaching.

Strategy #2 to Overcome Fear and Self Doubt: Pinpoint Their Self-Doubt Triggers

Does your client start feeling ‘small’ and have self-doubt when doing certain activities?

Some women feel inferior and feel lousy about themselves when they walk past luxury stores or surf luxury shopping websites like Net-a-Porter.

Some women’s self-doubt will be triggered when they watch Instagram Stories of well-off influencers flaunting their carefree lifestyles or displaying their handbag collections.

Get your client to identify 3-5 activities which trigger her self-doubt.

I hate to sound extreme, but encouraging your clients to cut out these ‘triggers’ from their lives can give them the peace of mind they need.

Strategy #3 to Overcome Fear and Self Doubt: Encourage Your Clients to Try New Strategies and be Okay with Mistakes

Successful people make more mistakes than the average person.

Many of us have the mentality that mistakes break us or push us away from our goals.

Actually, making mistakes as we move towards our goals, brings us closer to achieving them. Because when we make mistakes, we find out what works and what doesn’t.

So encourage your clients to keep trying new things, new approaches and new ways of doing things. They will flop along the way, BUT they will discover gems too.

If you have clients who are fearful of trying new things, you can read this blog post to encourage them not to care what other people think and live their purpose.

My last words on overcoming fear and self doubt…

The root cause of self-doubt is low self-esteem. And the habit of constantly comparing themselves to other people.

It helps them when we point out that even the people they admire have their own unique struggles and problems.

In fact, some influential people may face even more serious mental health and relationship issues than we do.

Help your clients to focus on their own strengths. They may not be good at public speaking (yet), but they may be good at writing. They may be shy in front of the camera, but they may be good at video editing. You get the idea!

You can download the ‘My Skills + Strengths’ tool below to remind your clients of their positive traits and boost their self-worth.

I hope this article helps somehow. Meanwhile, have a good week!

(Free Coaching Tool) How to Teach Your Coaching Clients to Smash Their Self-Critical Thoughts Once and For All

Teach your clients to overcome self-critical thoughts and be confident to chase their goals. Free coaching tool included - you can use it in your coaching sessions or even as a lead magnet on your website.

I will be sharing a 2-step method and a free coaching tool to teach your clients how to overcome their self-critical thoughts. This helps them feel more assured and confident of themselves.

I created a Thought Challenging Diary action sheet which you can download and use with your clients.

It’s unbranded so you can use it

  • with your coaching clients

  • as a lead magnet to get subscribers

  • in your coaching workshops

  • during prospect meetings or discovery calls

Teaching someone to overcome self-critical thoughts is not easy. It takes months and even years for someone to change deep-rooted thoughts.

We can bring awareness to their self-critical nature. Awareness is always the start of healing.

Coaches can’t save everyone as much as we want to. We do the best that we can and even if the client improves just 10%, we can celebrate.

It is difficult for anyone to change even a small habit. So any positive change is a victory.

Coaching is a long-term process. I’ve worked as a counsellor and I have heard of ‘bosses’ who wanted counsellors to change someone’s behaviour in 6 counselling sessions.

Anyway, I digress.

Let’s get started with how you can teach your clients to balance some of their self-critical thoughts.

If you want to download my coaching tool, the Thought Challenging Diary, feel free to do so below. You are free to use it with your clients, in coaching workshops or even as a lead magnet!

How do we teach someone to overcome their self-critical thoughts?

Step 1: Get your clients to answer these 4 questions.

  • "How will my friend (insert best friend’s name) view this situation?"

  • "If I’m in a good mood and feeling happy, how will I view this situation?"

  • "Is there any other perspective to view this situation?"

  • "What advice will I give my friend Karen if she has this same unhelpful thought?"

Give them time to think through the questions. We want in-depth answers. At least 5 long sentences.

Step 2: Get your clients to complete the Thought Challenging Diary Action Sheet

This is where we will challenge their self-critical thoughts with evidence and facts.

There is a certain kind of freedom and joy that comes with it.

This is how we do it:

Let’s say your client’s most distressing thought is:

"I’m a failure - I give up easily and not had success with many activities I start. This project is going to be the same."

We will find evidence supporting that thought and evidence challenging that thought.

You can see how I completed the Thought Challenging Diary coaching tool below:

It's now their turn to complete the Thought Challenging Diary with their self-critical thoughts. They will feel more in control of their thoughts and their lives after this exercise.

You can allocate one sheet for each self-critical thought your client has.

You can download the Thought Challenging Diary tool below:

And…if you want to save time as a coach, coach clients with counsellor-approved tools or even earn more income on the side, you will be interested in my done-for-you 22 Self-Esteem Worksheets Bundle.

You can add your own logo.

Use your branding colours.

Resell in your online shop.

Add your personal touch. Save time so you can focus on coaching and not spend time researching to create good quality materials.

Use the worksheets with your online coaching clients, in coaching workshops or even sell the worksheets individually on your website (for real).

It’s a good deal for now because I just launched this Self-Esteem Worksheets Bundle.

(Free Coaching Tool) How to Use a Self Love Coaching Tool & Help Clients Feel Confident of Achieving Goals

I’ve specially created a free self love coaching tool for you to use with clients who have low self esteem. Help them boost their confidence to achieve their goals!

When I was working as a full-time counsellor, I noticed that self love, self esteem and self care are problem spots for my counsellees and even colleagues.

If you are a life coach, I’m sure you have met clients who have low self esteem. They tend to have the ‘I can’t do this, I can’t do that’ mindset.

Anyway, that is why I have created a 4-page PDF coaching tool targeting your clients with low self esteem.

Coaching_tool.jpg

This coaching tool helps your clients face their ‘weaknesses’ squarely. And list down how these ‘weaknesses’ can actually…be helpful in special situations.

Coaching_tool.jpg
coaching_tool.jpg

This self love coaching tool seems simple. But it takes courage for someone to be aware and consciously list down their ‘weaknesses’.

With this coaching tool, they will realise that their ‘weaknesses’ do not destroy them. But they add character and even a sense of fun to their personality.

After that, you may want to go one step further and recommend 30 self love actions to grow their self-worth and be kinder to themselves.

Awareness is the first step towards healing!

So, what do you get with this ready-to-use coaching tool?

  • a pretty ‘Embrace your Weaknesses’ cover page

  • 2-pages of instructions to teach you how to use this coaching tool

  • the self love worksheet for your client to use

You can email your client the cover page + self love worksheet.

You can keep and use the 2-page instructions to coach your client ‘live’.

After using this coaching tool, your client will view their weaknesses more neutrally. This will boost their self-esteem and confidence.

After that, you can work on doing powerful goal-setting with them. There is no pressure for them to change their weaknesses, by the way.

If they truly want to change their ‘weaknesses’, you can work with them on that using this 31-day self love journal or this self love guide.

If you like this coaching tool, you will find my ‘Overcome Your Fear’ worksheet helpful for your clients too!

If you want to feel confident in front of your clients, you can download my 47 Coaching Questions so that you will never feel stuck during coaching sessions again.
